The YouTuber is Nick Shirley, a 23 year old right wing provocateur. His December 2025 viral video filmed Somali run daycare centers in Minneapolis that looked empty. He accused them of operating as ghost fronts to scam millions in federal childcare subsidies. The clip exploded to millions of views on YouTube and over 100 million across X. It tagged the Trump White House and supplied the exact political theater the enforcement machine craved.

What it triggered was immediate. DHS and ICE launched a massive investigation described as the largest immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota history. Federal agents swarmed neighborhoods, workplaces, and the exact daycares Shirley filmed. At the same time the Trump administration froze billions in federal childcare funds across five Democratic led states including California. Some reports put the freeze at over 10 billion. A judge later ordered temporary release.
But the real damage, fear, detentions, and disrupted services for actual low income families, was already inflicted. Shirley followed up with a California video alleging another 170 million in the same daycare and hospice grift. The state became the next stage for the show.
Contrast that instant spectacle with the guy living in the hills. Gladwin Gill, 66 year old psychologist, and his wife Amelou Gill, 70 year old registered nurse, allegedly ran 626 Hospice and St.
Francis Palliative Care as a 7.45 million Medicare billing mill out of their gated estate in the San Dimas and Covina hills. From at least 2022 to 2024 they paid kickbacks for non terminal patients. They submitted 5.2 million in phantom claims.
Medicare paid out more than 4 million in taxpayer cash before the feds moved. Their operation posted a ridiculous 97 percent five year survival rate that screamed fraud from orbit. They used their own daughters name on the paperwork to dodge their prior tax evasion convictions. Credentialed insiders with medical licenses and suburban respectability.
The FBI SWAT team only rolled up for the early morning raid under Operation Never Say Die after the money was already extracted. No city wide panic. No funding freezes for Medicare. No spectacle until the numbers got too embarrassing for a press conference.
This is not incompetence. This is the class engine operating exactly as designed. A YouTubers camera creates instant political oxygen for militarized raids and safety net sabotage against marginalized immigrant communities surviving on public subsidies. The real extraction by affluent professionals inside the privatized Medicare and hospice grift machine gets years of quiet runway because class position buys impunity.
DHS and ICE do not raid the hills. They raid the visible poor the second the spectacle demands it. Public funds for kids and the dying become props for clicks while the actual drain sails on until optics force a token show.
