The Siege of Delaney Hall and the Arrest of Press

We Need Your Voices Now

The Siege of Delaney Hall and the Arrest of Press

The situation at Delaney Hall in Newark has escalated into a direct assault on the right to report. Following Governor Sherrill’s directive, the NJ State Police have enforced a media blackout. Our own investigators, Kayleigh and Josie, have been arrested while attempting to document the human rights abuses occurring inside this facility. They are currently being denied access to legal representation and basic communication.

We Need Your Voice Now

We are calling on our community to demand transparency and accountability. Please take the following actions immediately:

  • Demand Oversight & Rights: Call the Governor’s office and your Congressional representatives. Use the Jess Craven Script to demand that the arrested individuals be granted immediate phone access and legal counsel, and that an elected official be deployed on-site to provide oversight.

Headline: The Siege of Delaney Hall – Arrests, Media Blackouts, and State Repression in NJ

The situation at Delaney Hall in Newark, NJ, has turned into a full-scale assault on transparency. Governor Sherrill’s administration has effectively enforced a media blackout, arresting two investigators, Kayleigh and Josie, while they were documenting abuses at the facility-a site where activists fighting against the proliferation of data centers are also being targeted.

The area around Delaney Hall was kept under a mandatory curfew until 6 AM, preventing any press coverage of the arrests. We are calling for immediate public pressure to ensure those detained receive legal counsel and for an elected official to be placed on-site for oversight.
