The deportation state isn’t malfunctioning.
It is extracting profit from compliance while manufacturing “illegality” through document seizure and per bed revenue.
Compliance gets you cuffed on a military base. Transparency triggers detention. Beds generate cash.
This episode rips the “just do it the right way” xenophobic talking point to shreds.
Annie Ramos and Staff Sgt. Matthew Blank
A wedding photo taken in Houston in March 2026. She is 22, a DACA recipient, and a biochemistry student. He is 23 and preparing to deploy. They followed every single rule at Fort Polk.
ICE still handcuffed her on the base.
The Myth of the “Right Way” and Administrative Sabotage
The “right way” is a procedural trap. No functional line exists for millions of people.
Annie Ramos was brought here at 22 months old. She is an American in every material sense except the paperwork the state weaponizes against her. She did everything demanded of her. She secured an attorney, gathered all her documents, and presented herself transparently at Fort Polk for a spousal green card.
Military spouses are supposed to get expedited processing for family unity. Instead, ICE agents entered the base, cuffed her, and hauled her off in a military police vehicle. Her family tried to deliver her paperwork. Guards confiscated it before she could even provide a signature.
This is not an error. This is designed administrative sabotage meant to punish the compliant.

US Spends Hundreds of Millions on Warehouses for ICE Detention Centers (Bloomberg)
ICE detention infrastructure relies entirely on warehouses built for per diem occupancy. Taxpayer money funds the cages, and private operators extract the rent.
Texas Secrecy and The Minneapolis Raid
El Paso County attempted a FOIA request on a proposed ICE facility. The agency refused. The county was forced to sue its own federal government just to get answers. Secrecy above local democracy is standard operating procedure.
Meanwhile, the pre dawn raids continue. In Minneapolis on April 7 at 6:43 AM, an abduction occurred at 2323 South 16th Avenue. Communities register this as kidnapping. Grassroots networks like EyesOnICE, Red Card distributions, neighborhood alerts, and warrant checks are working continuously to make the invisible visible.
Social Consequences and Civil Disobedience
Accountability is scaling socially. Tom Homan’s own Sackets Harbor community in New York marched on his lawn after local family separations. His boat slip was revoked. Local businesses banned his security detail. The exact same “right of refusal” that conservatives once cheered is now being turned against the architects of suffering.
Over at Palantir’s Manhattan HQ, the tech backbone feeding ICE surveillance and targeting, protesters formed human chains and staged sit ins. Enforcement collapsed under the sheer numbers.
The state has money and guns. It does not have an answer for ungovernable collective action.
