Minneapolis: Chemical Munitions Deployed on Family SUV. Infant Resuscitated.
Their car is totaled. Their children are traumatized. This is the reality of “enforcement” when they think no one is watching.
It was supposed to be a normal drive home from basketball practice. It ended with a mother desperately breathing life back into her six-month-old child on the side of the road, surrounded by a cloud of tear gas.
We talk often about why we keep our Eyes On ICE. We warn that the violence of the state does not stay contained. We warn that eventually, the “enforcement” bleeds into the everyday.
There is no starker warning of what is to come than what happened to Shawn and Destiny Jackson this Wednesday in Minneapolis.
This is the signal: No one is safe.
The Incident
According to verified reports, the Jackson family, including their six children ranging from six months to 11 years old, were navigating traffic. They were not protesters. They were not “targets.” They were a family in a minivan trying to get home.
When they found their path blocked by federal agents (identified as DHS/ICE personnel), they were not given an order to disperse. They were not given a route to leave.
Instead, agents deployed a flashbang grenade and chemical tear gas directly underneath the family’s vehicle.
“Foaming at the Mouth”
The blast was violent enough to lift the SUV off the ground, shatter the windows, and deploy the airbags. The cabin instantly filled with gas.
Shawn Jackson told reporters: “It was like they didn’t have a care in the world for us. The windows were down. You could see my kids in the car.”
As the parents dragged their children from the wreckage, the effects were immediate. The children were vomiting and foaming at the mouth from the chemical exposure. But the true horror set in when they looked at their youngest.
The six-month-old baby had stopped breathing.
Destiny Jackson performed CPR on the pavement, in the haze of the gas, until her child gasped for air.
A Sign of What’s To Come
The family was rushed to the hospital. Physically, they are stable. The baby is breathing. But let us be clear: This was an attack on normality.
This is what happens when fascism takes the reigns. The distinction between “suspect” and “civilian” vanishes. The safety of a family car is an illusion. The presence of children is no longer a deterrent to lethal force.
If federal agents can deploy military-grade chemical weapons on a minivan running errands without hesitation, then the boundaries of “safety” have been erased. We are no longer looking at law enforcement. We are looking at an occupying force that views our communities as war zones and our families as acceptable collateral damage.
If you think you are safe because you “follow the rules” or “keep your head down,” look at the Jacksons. They were just driving home.
Support the Family
The Jackson family is now without transportation and facing medical uncertainty. Both parents will be out of work as they care for their traumatized children and attempt to recover from this attack.
Destiny Jackson has organized a recovery fund to help cover legal fees, replace their vehicle, and provide basic necessities while they heal.

We Must Not Look Away
We must remain vigilant. If you see federal activity, document it safely. If you witness injustice, do not look away.
We are not just fighting for policy change. We are fighting for the right to exist without being gassed by our own government.
