The “Bush-League” Comment
During the press conference, Sheriff Joyce expressed outrage not just at the arrest, but at the manner in which it was conducted. Witnesses filmed approximately five to six agents “wrestling” the recruit out of his vehicle. The agents then departed with the recruit, leaving his car running and unattended in the middle of the street, a violation of standard police protocol which Joyce explicitly labeled “bush-league policing.”

Current Status
Despite the Sheriff’s Office verifying the recruit’s legal status and employment, ICE supervisors reportedly told Sheriff Joyce that the recruit was “illegal” without providing further specifics on any criminal violations. The recruit remains in detention.
